Hiraeth Press is now open for submissions!
We primarily publish full-length works of poetry and nonfiction (autobiography and travel writing are acceptable as well). Please be sure to review our current publications to ensure your submission is appropriate to our press. Please also read these guidelines in full. We are only interested in poetry and non-fiction projects which explore themes of ecology or contemplative works with an ecological sensibility.
Poetry Submissions
Starting in 2012 Hiraeth Press will only be accepting poetry submissions via our Wild Earth Poetry Prize. If you are an author who has recently penned a book-length poetry collection and are interested in submitting your manuscript to Hiraeth Press we welcome you to submit to us via this avenue.
A prize of publication, 10 complimentary author copies and a generous 30% royalty contract are given annually for two poetry collections. To enter submit a copy of your manuscript of 50 to 125 pages by December 1st, 2012. The entry fee is $10. The winning manuscripts will be announced in Late December and published in 2013. The winning authors will each receive a feature spread in Hiraeth Press’ biannual journal,Written River: A Journal of Eco-Poetics.

Non-fiction Submissions
We are currently accepting unsolicited full-length non-fiction submissions!
Please include in your nonfiction proposal:
- A cover letter
- A complete synopsis (1 — 2 pages)
- An outline or table of contents with detailed chapter descriptions (5 – 10 pages)
- Three sample chapters including any introduction and two other chapters of your choosing (chapters need not be consecutive)
- A list of similar or competing books
- A detailed biographical statement including author credentials and prior publications (if any)
- Marketing outline or letter of intent stating what steps you plan to take to aid in the promotion of your book
Submissions may be emailed to submissions@hiraethpress.com as a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF attachment.
Although we appreciate hearing from our readers and prospective authors, postal mail requires a lot of packaging, paper mailing materials, and fossil fuel to ship. If you absolutely need or want to send us something through the post you may do so. However, we strongly prefer electronic submissions and correspondence. You can expect to hear back from us within 8 weeks. The submitted manuscript should be previously unpublished.
Simultaneous submissions are permitted. However, we ask to be notified promptly if your submitted work is accepted elsewhere.
